A BLOOMING GOOD RIDE!
Paultons Park’s latest attraction is proving to be a great hit, not only with the youngsters who
eagerly clamber aboard the brightly coloured tractors, but also with gardening enthusiasts who
marvel at the vast array of fruit, vegetables, flowers and shrubs that have been planted all
around the track!
“We wanted to make the theming of this new ride unique, and as close to a farm as possible,”
says Paultons’ Commercial Director, Steve Lorton. “So what better way to achieve this by
planting a real vegetable patch and an orchard in the middle of the ride! We signed all the
different varieties of fruit and vegetables and the old farmyard machinery so the ride has an
education element to it as well.”
The results have been spectacular with over 30 different varieties of fruit and vegetable now
filling the area with colour and providing an ever changing backdrop for riders to enjoy.
Brian Graham, Paultons Gardens and Estate Foreman whose team planned and planted the
entire garden said, “The team has worked really hard on the area for the last 4 months and we
are now beginning to see the rewards, and we are looking forward to tasting them too! We
were thrilled when one member of the public wrote in to suggest the garden was worthy of
entry into the Chelsea Flower Show!”
The vegetable patch has been planted with runner beans, pumpkins, courgettes, marrows,
broccoli, and artichokes, to name just a few and other areas around the ride have been laid
with special wild meadow turf to faithfully recreate a traditional English wild flower meadow.
Genuine historical farming machinery has been placed around the ride and Paultons skilled
maintenance department have also built a striking ‘barnyard style’ station building and ‘tractor
shed’ to complete the farm-like ambience.
The Trekking Tractors ride is just one of 50 wonderful rides and attractions at Paultons which is
open daily from 10am.
