Livestock Keeper, Stephanie Cox with Tawny Frogmouth |

Tawny Frogmouth Family |
It's time to meet the family...!
'Kermit' the Tawny Frogmouth chick arrives at Paultons
Paultons is celebrating the birth of a new Tawny Frogmouth chick at the Park. Named 'Kermit' the chick arrived safely at the end of July.
Kermit has settled in well with his parents and the odd-looking family of birds is certainly creating a stir among visitors to the Park who often confuse the Tawny Frogmouths for owls due to their nocturnal habits and owl-like appearance.
Livestock keeper Stephanie Cox said, "Kermit is keeping me busy, as although he is being cared for by his natural parents they are not feeding him at all. It sometimes takes a while to get them to actually feed a chick and at the moment I am feeding him three times a day - so you might say I'm his adopted mother!"
The Tawny Frogmouth is actually closely related to the British Nightjar and the name Frogmouth comes from the appearance of its wide beak. The Tawny Frogmouths at Paultons are believed to be one of only four collections of such birds in the country.
Paultons Park is open every day from 10am with further information from www.paultonspark.co.uk.
