SCOTTY – A CLOWN WHO EXHIBITS MANY TALENTS!

Paultons Park resident entertainer, Scotty the Clown, is one multi-talented individual. For the past 16 years he has amazed audiences with juggling, acrobatics, magic, stilt walking, singing and unicycling and is currently busy planning a new theatrical Pirate show (with his friend Percy the Owl!) which will start at the Park in July. However, on Saturday July 9th and Sunday July 10th the other side of the clown will be revealed as Paultons will be hosting Scotty’s first ever art exhibition!

Scotty, who once appeared on ITV’s ‘Gladiators’, has been carving for just under 18 months after discovering art as a pastime 3 years ago. Using wood and paints as his medium Scotty’s art breaks the conventional rules and gives a fascinating insight into the man behind the make-up.

“It was really my dog walking in the woods that caused me to fall in love with wood” explains Scotty, “I used to see dead wood everywhere and thought it was such a waste, seeing such beauty and interest in something that others saw as useless caused me to want to bring it back to life”.

“I just look at the wood and start carving when the first thought comes up. That means you end up with something really fresh and also causes you to perhaps question what’s lying in that bizarre mind of mine!”.

Scotty’s unusual approach to carving and painting makes for some fascinating and visually striking results. “Rules are meant to be broken and I can’t imagine any I haven’t broken so far! Pushing those boundaries means I am creating a very different style of finish, one that may raise more than an eyebrow now and again. But then again you don’t become a clown by being conformist!” said Scotty.

The exhibition of Scotty’s art will be in the Oak Room at Paultons on Saturday July 9th and Sunday July 10th from 10.00am until 4.30pm each day, there is no extra charge for the exhibition and usual admission rates apply. You can catch Scotty in ‘Percy’s Pirate Adventure’ which starts on Saturday July 2nd, weekends only and will run daily from 23rd July until the end of August or in his fantastic clown show which is on now at weekends only and will also run daily during the school summer holidays from 23rd July.
