Paultons 2005 development programme tops £600,000
Paultons Park opened for the 2005 season
on last weekend having completed a
major development programme. It is the second
year running that Paultons has invested
over £600,000
developing new rides and improving
facilities at the popular family Park.
Over £300,000 has been invested
on new rides at the Park. Sure to prove a hit with visitors is
Kontiki, a spinning and swinging boat
ride that recreates the experience of riding the high seas
without leaving dry land! The ride was
chosen for its unique motion that is
unlike anything else currently at the Park thus giving visitors
a new experience. The Magic Carpet ride
will be arriving at Paultons in the summer
and, like the Kontiki, is another family ride where
Mum and Dad can enjoy the experience
with their children, ‘flying’ visitors
to a height of 7 metres before swooping
to the ground, the Magic Carpet is sure
become another great favourite.
A
large covered permanent stage area
has also been installed for the 2005
season. The stage will be home to live
shows throughout the summer, including
a brand new production, Percy’s Pirate Adventure, where Scotty the Clown and Percy
the Owl will take the audience on a magical
adventure in search of lost treasure.
There have been many improvements
made
to the existing facilities including
the addition of two new patio seating
areas complete with large 4 metre square umbrellas giving
shelter and shade.
“
We conducted extensive research over
the last 12 months which indicated that
our visitors would like more areas to shelter from the great British
weather, the installation
of these new patio areas is a direct
response to this” comments
Steve Lorton, Paultons Commercial Director.
Other projects which have been completed
during the closed season include a new rockery area and garden
improvements,
new non-fixed seating installed in
the Station Restaurant and general pathway improvements.
Dedicated new staff facilities have
been built at the Park. The development
includes
two new staff rooms, a catering area,
lockers, storage, toilets and even
shower facilities. The building represents
Paultons
continuing commitment to its staff
and their importance to the success
of the
business as demonstrated by the Investor
in People accreditation gained last
year.
Steve Lorton said “It is vitally
important that are staff are well looked
after and have the proper facilities.
The new development will be appreciated
by the staff and enable us to expand
in the future”.
Paultons are also
installing a ‘Haystack’ people
dryer. This coin-operated, walk-in dryer
will dry people and their clothes should
they get wet. Not unsurprisingly the
dryer will be situated near to the Raging
River Ride. Water Wars, another new attraction
that will open in the Summer, may also
be a reason to use the dryer. Visitors
will be able to catapult water filled
balloons at each other in an attempt
to soak their opponent!
Paultons Park is open every day from 10am until 30th October
2005 and weekends in November and December. Further information
