Roller Coaster Charity Marathon!
J anet
and Graham Bailey made a flying visit Paultons Park this week as
part of their gruelling tour
around the UK’s best-known theme parks. Graham decided to
undertake the task to raise funds for
Marie Curie Cancer Care after he and his wife lost several family
members and close friends
through cancer.
The tour started at
Alton Towers, Staffordshire, on Monday
with Graham attempting to ride at least
two or three of the major rides at each of the parks.
The couple travelled to Paultons from
Cornwall already having covered over
600 miles when they arrived.
Graham managed to fit in four rides
at Paultons Park, electing to go on the
Raging River Ride (log flume)
first, then The Stinger (rollercoaster),
followed by The Jumping Bean (new drop
ride) and finally The Wave Runner (water
coaster). Graham said “I thought I would go on a wet ride
first to give myself a chance to dry out on a rollercoaster! ”
T he
tour will take Mr and Mrs Bailey, from
Bury, Lancashire, the length and
breadth of the country finishing in
Scotland early next week, a round journey
of over 1,500 miles! Luckily Enterprise Car
Rental kindly donated Mr Bailey with
a car and a full tank of petrol for the week.
Every year Marie Curie
Cancer Care
provides care to around 30,000 cancer
patients and their families - entirely
free of charge. Cancer claims the lives
of more than 150,000 people each year,
with a further one million living with
the disease at any one time.
