£600,000 spend as Park invests in its future
Paultons Park opened for the 2004 season last
weekend having completed a major programme
of projects during the 10 weeks it was closed. The £600,000
investment schedule involved the development of new attractions,
the improvement of some existing
facilities and the building of a new
purpose made storage area.
Over £250,000 has been invested in
building two thrilling new drop rides, The Jumping Bean and The
Jumping Jack, which, in addition to
a fantastic new Penguin Pool, add to the already extensive Paultons
experience.
The Park has also upgraded
several of its existing facilities
including completely refurbishing The Gift Shop
with bright new fittings and air-conditioning,
replacing the ceiling and installing flexible
seating in the Wagoners Restaurant,
improving the car parking areas so
that all parking is now on hard standing, and making a multitude
of
improvements to the already impressive
gardens including widening
pathways and creating a new rockery
area.
The Park has also created
two new facilities; ‘The Oak Room’ will
compliment the existing ‘Cedar Room’ (which itself has
had air-conditioning installed) as
a corporate entertaining venue thus
providing syndicate or breakout areas, or simply a room for
smaller functions or meetings. The
second facility ‘Kiddie
Kraft’, opening at Easter, will be an additional paid for attraction
in which children will be able to show
their more creative side by painting
their own pottery in bright and light surroundings.
The continued development of the infrastructure
has progressed throughout the closed
season, which whilst not as “glamorous” as
the building of new rides and attractions
is of vital importance to ensure the
Park continues to offer the levels of service that
visitors have come to expect. Indeed,
the single largest investment is the
creation of a much-needed new £200,000
storage building that will house catering
and engineering supplies. “The
new store will make a tremendous difference
to the business”,
says Steve Lorton, Commercial Director “as we have grown we
have required more and more space for
stock and had reached the upper limits of our existing capacity.
The
new building will enable us
to cope with our needs now and some
way into the future”.
