What we have to offerWhat we have to Offer

Working in collaboration with practising teachers and educational specialists, we have created a programme of activities linked to the National Curriculum for pupils of Foundation, Key Stages 1 and 4, and Post 16.

 

Foundation and Key Stage 1

Pre-visit Activities

  • A visit to your school by our education officer to talk to pupils about Paultons Park (subject to availability)

What we have to offer KS1We offer a range of theme or subject activities:

Myself and other animals Myself and Other Animals

These looks at the similarities and differences between humans and animals, the senses, and observations using science, maths and English

Animals and birds Animals and Birds

These activities look at adaptation, habitats using science, maths and English

Forces and movement Forces and Movement

These activities look at the rides at the park and how they work, measuring, designing and presenting

Plants Plants

These activities look at the vegetation in the park in fun ways using map work ordering and research skills

Time and distance Time and Distance

These activities look at measuring and estimating time and distance using the rides at the park, and time challenges

Materials Materials

These activities look at the different materials, shapes and colours used within the park and a look at materials used in the past

Legends Big and Small

These activities look at our dinosaurs, nursery rhyme characters using counting, measuring and creative writing

We are also able to offer subject activities.

Schools will receive a complimentary group photograph of their visit.

Post visit activities Post Visit Activities

Pupils can send photographs and drawings, or write a letter, report or story to Percy, which will be posted on the Percy’s Postbag area of the education website.

Key Stage 2

Forces and movement Forces and Movement

These activities provide students with the opportunity to experience and identify forces using our various rides. They can carry out data collection and analysis and become a news reporter.

Materials Materials

In these activities students look at ride design and construction materials, with an opportunity to design their own ride.

Plants Plants and Animals

With beautiful gardens and a variety of birds and animals students can look at adaption, become a tree detective or even work out the height of trees. They can listen and take part in stories about our trees.

Myself and other animals Myself and Other Animals

These activities use our birds and animals to look at life cycles, life processes, classification and using keys. They can carry out data collection and even try writing poetry.

In these activities students investigate dinosaurs, sacred birds and the Monkey Puzzle tree.

Time and distance Time and Distance

Using practical activities students measure air resistance, learn how to read co-ordinates and plan itineraries.

Key Stage 4

Marketing in Leisure and tourism Marketing in Leisure and Tourism

Our very successful marketing programme will introduce students to all the major areas of marketing at Paultons Park. It is designed with GCSE Leisure and Tourism in mind, but is applicable to Business, and Travel and Tourism courses at Key Stage 4 and Post 16.

What we have to offer KS4Students are given a presentation by our education department, which looks at the marketing mix, promotional techniques and materials, marketing research and the opportunity to design a piece of promotional material for one of our events. A student workbook which follows the presentation is included in the programme.

Teachers will receive a free resource pack containing a CD of the presentation, promotional literature and a teacher workbook, complete with answers.

As students will be using this information as part of coursework and assignments, they can post questions on the Student Notice Board which will be answered by our education staff. This information will then be available to all students visiting the site.

Customer Service in Leisure and tourism Customer Service in Leisure and Tourism

This is a new programme which has been designed to cover most aspects of the GCSE Leisure and Tourism course. However, it will be of use to any student at Key Stage 4 and Post 16 studying a subject involving customer service.

Students will be taken through an interactive presentation on how customer service is delivered at Paultons Park. They will have the opportunity to carry out a mystery customer task, a customer service survey with guests and staff, and learn how to deliver good customer service.  A student workbook accompanies the presentation.

Teachers will receive a CD of the presentation, a teacher workbook complete with answers and post visit activities.

As students will be using this information as part of coursework and assignments, they can post questions on the Student Notice Board  which will be answered by our education staff. This information will then be available to all students visiting the site.

Science in the workplace Science in the Workplace

Paultons GardensThis is a new course designed to show the types of people who work with   science and use scientific skills at the park. Students will visit areas of the park e.g. animal kitchens, First Aid Centre, and talk to staff about their work and how they work safely.

Hazard Control is a practical activity involving students carrying out health and safety risk assessments and identifying potential hazards using a prepared workbook.

As students will be using this information as part of coursework and assignments, they can post questions on the Student Notice Board  which will be answered by our education staff. This information will then be available to all students visiting the site.

With the introduction of new GCSE single and double award qualifications in leisure and tourism we are offering 2 new programmes.

Marketing in Leisure and tourism Sales, Marketing and Operations

What we have to offer KS4Students are given a presentation which looks at the park’s mission statement, marketing objectives, management structure, products, pricing strategies, customer types, the marketing mix, promotional techniques and materials, and technological changes. Also integrated in to the programme are practical activities.

A student workbook accompanies the presentation.

Teachers will receive a free resource pack containing a CD of the presentation, a teacher answer book, and promotional literature.

 As students will be using this information as part of coursework and assignments, they can post questions on the Student Notice Board which will be answered by our education staff. This information will then be available to all students visiting the site.

Customer Service in Leisure and tourism Customers and Employment

CustomersThis programme involves students learning about customer service and employment at the park. Students will be given a presentation containing information on products, services, facilities, our mission statement, customer satisfaction statistics, numbers and trends, customer types and expectations, communicating with customers, and employment opportunities.  Also integrated in to the programme are practical activities.

A student workbook accompanies the presentation.

Teachers will receive a free resource pack containing a CD of the presentation, a teacher answer book, job descriptions and customer service literature.

 As students will be using this information as part of coursework and assignments, they can post questions on the Student Notice Board which will be answered by our education staff. This information will then be available to all students visiting the site.
